Vic Firth American Classic 5A - Wood Tip Reviews
Whichever size and weight you like I challenge you to find a better stick. I don't know any other stick maker that cares about their sticks as much as Vic Firth. Each pair are size, weight and tone matched making each pair a completely matched pair.
The finish on Vic Firth sticks are fantastic and will never give you splinters (unlike other manufacturers that make more expensive sticks)
I love vic Firth sticks...you just cant go wrong with them.
These are really very good sticks. 5A is the perfect size, you will find it hard not to like these sticks!
I purchased my Vic Firth 5A drumsticks a few weeks ago now, and they have been absolutely fine. They are just the right length (for me, drumsticks are a very personal thing, so you would have to try them before you buy them) and the perfect width (again, for me). The tips are oval apart from one end, which is cut away for the shoulder of the stick. They are made from Hickory.
I Found that the fulcrum point (the point where the drumstick rests on the index finger while holding it) is where the gap between the Vic Firth logo and the flag
(Vic Firth [-]
here^). The sticks feel very sturdy, and make a nice clear sound when they hit the drum (or cymbal, or cowbell, etc).
All in all, these drumsticks are a great pair, and especially if you are a beginner as these make an excellent first choice.
