Manufactured in Chelmsford UK, Hayden amplifiers are designed by British tube amp guru Dave Green. The company specialises in designing hand-wired electric guitar valve amplifiers, combining classic vacuum tube amp designs from the past with modernised amp features that today’s guitarists require. Contemporary specifications such as valve switching and pickup matching are just a few features of Hayden amps that make them special.
Hayden amps can be seen as being as magnificent as a restored version of an old classic, like an old Ford Mustang, with the traditional shape and muscle power, housing the much appreciated modern electronics inside.
“From the moment you plug in, a Hayden makes its presence felt with a strong and unmistakable core tone that remains intact no matter how hard the amplifier is driven.”
These boutique amplifiers feature custom-wound transformers, non-ferrous stainless steel chassis construction, hand machined gold turret tags and the list goes on. Hayden amplifiers are simply the epitome of quality, precision and elegance.
“So the question isn’t do you need a Hayden amp, it’s which Hayden amp do you need?”
Toots and the Maytals are a Jamaican music group lead by singer and bandleader Frederick “Toots” Hibbert. The band was formed in the early 60s when Ska music was becoming increasingly popular combining elements of Caribbean Mento and Calypso. Toots and the Maytals also composed and performed Reggae and Rocksteady style songs in addition to incorporating aspects of American jazz and Rhythm & Blues into their “sound”.
The group is commended for their strong, well-blended vocals as well as their instrumental performance abilities. After the release of their recent album True Love in 2005, which revisited their classic tracks from the past alongside other musicians such as Eric Clapton, the band received a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
During their Glastonbury warm-up gig in June of 2010, Toots and the Maytals were using the Hayden Speakeasy Head and the band are also frequent users of the Hayden Classic Series 412A angled amp cabinet.
