Ashdown are a British based company, manufacturing instrument amplifiers. Founded only in 1997, is a fairly young company compared to some of its competitors, however; what it lacks in age, it makes up for with unquestionable quality and precision.
From the bedroom to the stadium, Ashdown build a full range of high-performance bass amplifiers to suit all musical styles and different levels of playing abilities. The original aim of the brand was to create “solid, good-sounding and affordable bass amplifiers”, and in doing so, Ashdown have also catered for electric and acoustic guitarists. In addition to guitar amplification, Ashdown offer a range of bass guitar effects pedals such as the Chorus Plus and the Sub-Octave Plus.
Moakes is currently the bassist for the British indie rock band Bloc Party and also performs in the post-hardcore band, Young Legionnaire. The majority of Moakes’s time on stage is spent stood in front of his Ashdown 410T amp cab and Ashdown ABM500II amp head.
In addition to maintaining the Bloc Party website in the bands early years, Moakes also co-wrote some of their more political songs, alongside lead singer Kele Okereke. The multi-instrumentalist demonstrated his musical skills when he played drums on the track ‘Sunday’ from the bands second album A Weekend in the City and Played glockenspiel on ‘Waiting for the 7:18’.
