Published: Fri June 23, 2006  News Feed

Audio Ease released Altiverb 5.4.4 for Windows today, including its demos. The company reports that Altiverb 5.4.4 shows better performance than previous versions, especially at hardware buffer sizes above 256 samples; one of Audio Ease's off-the-shelf £500 PCs can deliver 28 Altiverb Concert Halls at 80 percent CPU.

Audio Ease is also offering new free IR releases, the latest of which is a rarity--the stunning orchestral recording studio Filmorchester Berlin. Built in 1952-53 as a box within a box construction, Filmorchester features glorious acoustics. According to Audio Ease, Filmorchester Berlin originally served the purposes of both communist propaganda and classical music recording.

"It's obvious now that convolution reverb is here to stay," said Arjen van der Schoot, co-owner of Audio Ease. "And we've been at it over twice as long as anyone else, so no wonder Altiverb is the most efficient convolution reverb, and comes with the largest and highest quality library of acoustics samples."
