New sE Electronics & Rupert Neve Collaboration: the RNT Mic
"I have long had intentions of working on a project like this. After looking closely at the manufacturing techniques, build quality, and work ethic of countless companies, sE became the obvious choice as a partner for the development of these microphones, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results." Rupert Neve
"For many years, I have admired the work of Mr. Neve, and now that we are working together I am able to realize a quality level in microphone technology that no other manufacturer to date has managed to achieve." Siwei Zou, sE Electronics
The RNT microphone features Rupert Neve's legendary transformers and discrete circuitry, paired with Siwei Zou's custom hand-crafted capsule and striking mechanical design: it is a brand new flagship condenser mic for the biggest sounds you've ever heard, and was announced this week during Musikmesse.
After more than ten years of discussion and development, the RNT represents the pinnacle of the relationship between sE Electronics and Rupert Neve Designs, and featuresnNine polar patterns, incredible headroom, and brilliant high-frequency response - for the first time, Mr. Neve's 50+ years of console design experience can now be found inside a condenser microphone.
This microphone could prove to become an essential part of any professional recording studio, and become legendary in its own right.
NEW sE REFLEXION FILTER
Also during Musikmesse, sE Electronics have announced the GuitaRF a new reflexion filter ideally suited for miking guitar amps. After hearing feedback from many top FOH engineers around the world, sE learned that many of them were modifying existing sE Reflexion Filter products (like the IRF2 or Reflexion Filter Pro) to help them isolate their amp mics on stage.
These modified setups can be seen on tour with artists ranging from Tom Petty to Black Sabbath, and sE’s new guitaRF was designed as an off-the-shelf solution for FOH engineers that provides the same isolation achieved with these modified setups, while also allowing for the precise positioning of two microphones on the cabinet.
We don't have a specific date when these items will be available on Dolphin Music yet, but according to sE they'll be shipping in Q3 2015.
The RNT has an MSRP of $3,495 USD, and the guitaRF an MSRP of $249 USD. Prices in British pounds to be confirmed very soon.
This new sE Electronics product, the GuitaRF was especially designed for better sound-quality when recording a guitar amp of miking it onstage. Aside from isolation and acoustic filtering, the guitaRF incorporates a pass-through hole for a dynamic or small-capsule mic, as well as hardware to vertically mount a ribbon or large-diaphragm condenser. The hardware lets the user phase-align the two…
