The Nord Lead A1 has landed
Nord showed off their latest synth, the Lead A1, at this year’s NAMM Show - and it’s finally here!
The Lead A1 has got loads of the same features as the Lead 4 sound engine but it has a specially-designed front panel interface that was made to keep programming quick and easy whilst retaining hands-on flexibility.
This is the synth for professional players who like to make changes during performances and get inspired by streamlined sound design, and Nord has included some great key features specifically for your creative pleasures.
Unique Oscillator concept and 8 Oscillator Configurations allow patches to be created and edited quicker than ever. Shortcuts include Pitch, Detune, Shape, Sync, AM, Noise, Sub Mix, FM, plus a choice of 47 analog and digital waveforms for you to play around with.
Modulation functions include the three-stage ADR Modulation Envelope that can be triggered from the keyboard and inverted and controlled by velocity. The LFO features 5 waveforms and can be synced with The Master Clock, which allow the LFO, Arpeggiator and Delay to be synced all together.
Onboard filters include 12, 24 dB low-pass, high-pass and band-pass, transistor and diode ladder filter simulations of Mini and TB-303.
There is a convenient MIDI USB that can be used with a DAW or the included Sound Manager software. Plus there are individual effects processors for each of the four slots in the Lead A1: Delay, Reverb plus a choice of Drive, Ring Modulation, Phaser, Flanger, Ensemble or Chorus per slot. New Ensemble and Chorus effects are analog models of classic synths, bringing a vintage analog feel to your sounds. Also included is the acclaimed Morph function via the Mod Wheel, which allows multiple parameters to be morphed in real time with exceptionally easy control.
Brand-New Added Features
The Mutator function has probably been the most talked about feature of the Lead 4 since its release, as it allows variations of patch to be created by adjusting one, some or all elements of a patch by set percentages. Programme creation has never been so fun and easy!
The ‘Like’ feature allows you to save your sounds in a temporary location and continue editing on the Lead A1. You can Like up to 50 variations, with the ability to scroll between them to compare your favourites or go back to a specific Liked version to edit in a different way.
The Extra Fat Unison mode challenges any vintage analog instrument with its "Fat-As-Fat-Can-Be" beats.
The Lead A1 is comprised of an all-metal chassis, tactile knobs, and unfaltering emphasis on quality that completes the synthesizer that is designed to last you a lifetime!
The Lead A1 is priced at £1,249 (inc. VAT) and is available for you to buy now. The Lead A1R will ship in June 2014 and is available for preorder.
