The humble Ibanez RG is the most recognisable shape in Ibanez’s full range of guitars, originally these guitars were known as Roadstar guitars but the name was switched in 1992 to RG.
Since then the RG has done a little bit of growing up and some significant design changes have been made to keep up with the demands of the modern day guitarist including the introduction of the wizard necks, which are some of the thinnest and fastest necks on the market.
These super thin necks allow players freedom along the 24-fret finger board and can really enhance playability of the guitar when it comes to chording and soloing.
Hard Tail Bridge or Edge Pro & Lo Pro TremolosThe Ibanez RG features many guitars across the price range and each have a mixture of locking trem systems or fixed bridge options depending on your own preferences, if you choose the whammy action of a tremolo system then the RG’s will be fitted with the Edge Pro II or the more premium Lo Pro system.
Ibanez RG7 & Ibanez RG8A rise in more extreme forms of rock & metal have seen a popularity in lower tunings, deeper tones and more strings as guitarists and producers search for more specific tones and options to play within the guitar, initially bands used 7-strings to adapt the lower B tuning for a lower heavier sound but as musicians looked into heaver tones and further playability 8 strings RG’s have started to become very popular.
The Ibanez RG7 and RG8 offer an affordable options for players who are looking to get into using a seven or 8 string guitar for the first time right through to guitarsis who demand premium appointments.
Ibanez Iron Label RG GuitarsIbanez have always been popular with rock and metal guitarists however with the addition of the new Iron Label RG’s Ibanez have been able to streamline their guitars to feature premium pick ups from EMG and Seymour Duncan and offer guitars that have been specifically build to be played at high gain.
