NME Awards 2014
February is a busy month for music awards and just one week after the Brit Awards, the stars of the music industry returned to London for the 2014 edition of the NME Awards. Arctic Monkeys were the big winners of the night and added 5 new trophies to their cabinet. AM won the band Best Album, whilst they also won Best Live Band, Best British Band, Best Fan Community and Hero Of The Year award, for lead singer, Alex Turner.
Dolphin Music favourite Johnny Marr took the stage to present an award whilst Jarvis Cocker and John Cooper Clarke also took part, handing over the NME awards to Turner and Co.
If you want to discover the instruments behind the band, check out our Arctic Monkeys Gear Guide which features a run down of the live gear the band has used throughout their career.
The shock of the night was Lily Allen beating off competition from David Bowie and Brit Award winner Lorde, to win Solo Artist Of The Year whilst the ceremony also handed Damon Albarn the Innovation Award and Blondie quite rightly became the first female led band to pick up the coveted Godlike Genius Award.
