Epiphone In 2014 - An Excellent Vintage

Epiphone Casino Limited Edition

Epiphone have inspired generations of guitar greats in every genre imaginable, from the blues to rock and pop. In 2014 they're celebrating that fact with a range of artist signature models and some inspired by iconic models used by guitar greats like Noel Gallagher's Union Jack Sheraton. First up though is perhaps the most famous Epiphone customers of all time, Paul, John and George, no second names needed.

That's right the four lads from Liverpool started playing around the same time as Epiphone were first designing the Casino. Originally intended as a brother to Gibson's ES-330 it might be the deviation of using P90s instead of humbuckers that helped make the Casino such an icon. Many consider P90s the ultimate electric guitar pickup, single coil bits, bucker warmth and a touch sensitive versatility. The fact that the Casino has such distinct twang and can feedback beautifully helped too. That last fact may have brought it to the attention of the The Kinks and The Stones. The Oasis man was seen wielding this customised Epiphone Sheraton on stage at Maine Road when the band were at the very peak of their power. Epiphone are creating a limited run of 1000 with lush gold hardware, vintage style headstock and Gibson pickups.

Joe Bonamassa Les Paul

Joe Bonamassa Blues Les Paul

Joe owns enough guitars that you'd expect him to know a thing or two about designing his own. That's why Epiphone have collaborated with the contemporary blues legend to create a searing Les Paul, loaded with Gibson pickups and Grover tuners.

The Famous Jimmy Page Double Neck

Jimmy Page Double Neck Guitar

Ok technically the guitar came first and then Jimmy Page turned the Gibson EDS-1275 into the "coolest guitar in rock" but we're also partial to the less credited John McLaughlin and love a bit of Birds Of Fire in the office. Double the guitar doesn't mean double the price however and Epiphone have created the G-1275 Double Neck Electric Guitar for well under a grand!
