Dolphin Drumsticks 2012
A drummer's choice of stick is no small matter, effecting the timbre and (crucially) the feel of the drums. We've compiled a little guide to help you choose, starting with a breakdown of the anatomy of the stick itself, courtesy of Zildjian:
The classic rock stick must be the 5B with a good heft and suitable length for most drummers. Many signature sticks are based around this sizing, including those of Taylor Hawkins
and Chad Smith
. Hickory and wood tip is another common factor in the pro's choice of sticks. Check out the classic Zildjian
and Vic Firth
5B sticks for the same kind of quality at a lower price.
Nylon tips are considered to impart a different tone and are great for defined attack. Preferred by Adrian Young
from No Doubt and available in great colours and styles from Vater
Sometimes you want a lighter touch from brushes
