... So hold on a minute, you're telling me that I can win a new Roland GAIA Synth by just posting a video of myself showing off my skills to the nation?
Well alrightie then!
So What is the GAIA? Well to put it simply, it's a high performance value synth with an old school charm!
Roland GAIA SH-01 Synthesizer
The GAIA is one of the youngest members of Roland's synth family. It may be small, but what it lacks in size it most definitely makes up for in power. Weighing around 10lbs, the GAIA is free to go with you on gigs, rehearsals etc, with minimal effort, and the best part is that it doesn't take up a lot of valuable studio space... Great!
"The layout is so 'left to right' intuitive that you can get straight into tweaking and playing the second the Gaia is plugged in." - Music Radar Review
The GAIA can be powered by an AC adapter, or if you're on the move you can throw in some batteries for music on the move, and with its battery life indicator you'll never lose power unexpectedly during a gig.
Some of our favourite features of the GAIA include its huge sound and the fact that is comes with three virtual analogue engines on-board, each with a dedicated oscillator, filter, amplifier, envelope, and LFO. You can also layer up to five effects at one time, including distortion, flanger, delay, reverb, low boost, and that's just a few. More effects and features include D Beam, arpeggiator, and Phrase Recorder onboard and, thankfully, USB ports for saving user patches to USB flash drives, and for audio/MIDI connection to computers.
“Overall it's the sheer playability and tweakability of the Gaia that means that the user can just dive straight in with the filter sweeps, modulations and effects to make the sound their own. You might be a soft synth master but you just can't beat the physicality and speed of a hardware synthesizer and the Gaia positively begs you to make new sounds as soon as you engage Tone 1.”
