Held at the Liverpool Echo Arena on the 18th/19th May, the Sound City Expo trade show saw companies exhibiting their latest gear, music, art, business and technology. We took Avid, M-Audio, Native Instruments, Peavey, Propellerhead, Steinberg and Yamaha along with us to showcase some of their new gear and be there for you guys to chat to.

I couldn't make the Sound City Expo, what did I miss?

Since it first appeared in 2008, Liverpool Sound City has been one of our musical highlights of the year - it's always 3 days and nights of fascinating, forward-looking industry conference and top-notch live acts. For 2012, acts on the bill included Alkaline Trio, Mystery Jets, Death in Vegas, Alt-J, and hundreds more. For the first time ever, this year included an extra event: Liverpool Sound City Expo.

The Yamaha stand attracted lots of attention thanks to their beautiful THR amps A-Series and Pacifica guitars, DTX drum kits and MOX synths that were all set up for punters to play along with. Customers intrigued by the Cubase AI software included with the THR amplifiers took a trip over to Andrew at the Steinberg stand to see exactly what Cubase AI was capable of. Steinberg was also showing off their brand new CMC Controllers, and how you can use all 6 of them together (we're currently offering them for £85).

For those of you who were looking for something a little more on the heavy side, or for playing live, Peavey's stand had some great gear, including the Delta Blues All-Tube Guitar amp.

Avid, Native Instruments, Pioneer, Stanton and Vestax over in the DJ hub were showing you how to scratch, mix and record with the Traktor S4 and popular DJ gear alike. We also had the pleasure of some DJs live on stage showing off - it made us jealous.

We equipped venues full of the best Orange amps around

If you were at Leaf Cafe, Shipping Forecast, the Kazimier, Red Bull Garage, or Epstein theatre over the 3-day event, you'll have spotted these on stage.
