Roland VB-99 V-Bass Guitar System

The Roland VB-99 Virtual Bass System is such an amazing product, with so many different features and functions that if you find yourself owning and using one, we suspect it will be quite a while before you are fully exploiting its potential.

The VB-99 is primarily designed for live performance, but it is a hugely useful addition to a bass player within a studio recording session too. To use the VB-99 to its full potential, your bass must be fitted with the GK-3B Divided Bass Pickup which provides an independent signal for each string. The  VB-99 modelling processors employ Roland’s ground breaking COSM (Composite Object Sound Modelling) technology which is now a main stay of many Roland & Boss products.

"COSM takes the pitch, amplitude and dynamics of the input signal and, drawing on a stored library of predefined parameters, morphs the sound in real time to take on an alternative identity"

Roland's VB-99 V-Bass System has captured the imagination of bassists wordwide, including some high-profile players. The mighty Darryl Jones, Gary Willis, Derrick Murdock and Bubby Lewis have all used and now own the VB-99 and it has seriously influenced their creative capabilities with the bass. Here Snoop Dogg's Bassist, Robert "Bubby" Lewis talks about his love for the Roland VB-99 V-Bass and how he uses it for recording in the studio and live applications. He also runs you through some of his favourite pre sets.
