NAMM 2012: Korg Launch PitchBlack Poly the Polyphonic Pedal Tuner

Published: Thu January 19, 2012  News Feed

Korg have announced the PitchBlack Poly - a PolyPhonic Pedal tuner bringing Korg's revolutionary polyphonic tuning to a new pedal tuner which will be sure to shorten your tuning time. The beauty of a Polyphonic tuner is by simply strumming your guitar; the pitchblack Poly will show which strings are in tune and which strings are out of tune, all in a single glance so you can quickly adjust those strings which need tuning.

The main impressive features in Korg's PitchBlack Poly are its four LED meter display modes, true bypass circuitry which mutes the audio input and its compact size - it'll fit conveniently into most pedalboard systems and provides a DC OUT jack that can be used to feed power to other effect pedals.

PitchBlack Poly Four Tuning Display Modes

Regular Meter Mode

offers the most rewarding compendium of electro-mechanical, transistorized, tape-driven, analog, and early digital keyboards ever available in a single instrument.

Full Strobe Mode

Tune the string so that the LED meter illumination stops flowing. The illumination will flow from left to right if the string is sharp, or from right to left if the string is flat.

Half Strobe Mode

Tune the string so that the LED meter illumination stops flowing and only the center white LED is lit. The right side of the LED meter will strobe if the string is sharp; the left side if the string is flat. When the pitch is correct, only the center LED will be lit.

Split Mode

This mode is a first for the pitchblack series. It's a hybrid of Meter mode and Half Strobe mode. Tune the string so that the lit LEDs at left and right converge in the center. If the string is sharp, the right side of the meter shows the amount of the discrepancy, and the left side shows a half-strobe display. If the string is flat, the left side of the meter shows the amount of the discrepancy, and the right side shows a half-strobe display.

We're expecting the PitchBlack Poly around June 2012 and it'll be £82.80. If you're interested in the PitchBlack, you can head over to the product page and sign up for a 'Basket Alert' (found on the right hand side) and we'll email you when it's in stock. If you want to secure a PitchBlack Poly and receive yours just after we receive it in our warehouse, you can pre-order!
