Your Favourite Electric Guitars
We recently asked you, our customers to tell us what your favourite Dolphin electric guitar is, and this is your top 5...
The Ibanez RG Prestige series of guitars was introduced back in 1987 and apparently it is still as tremendous today as it was 24 years ago. The RG series guitars are still thriving and evolving, they are world famous for their characteristic thin, fast necks and the unmistakable Ibanez hard-edged rock and metal tones. The RG Prestige models are now all made in Japan by Ibanez's finest luthiers, with Wizard necks, prestige finishing, Edge Zero and Edge Pro bridges, and a broad range of intense pickups in different configurations. Featuring a V7 neck pickup, S1 middle pickup and V8 bridge pickup combination, The RG1570/RG1550M can dial in any tone, from crystal clear to searing and nasty.
In the last two decades, no other guitar maker besides Ibanez has done so much to advance the art and science of the tremolo. The Edge Pro represents the next phase in locking tremolos. The RG1570 is the weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses… and we can see why it’s in your top 5.
Fender American Standard Stratocaster
Icon. Not a word to be used lightly, but the Strat is just that. The new American Standard Stratocaster guitars are beauties to behold in sound, look and feel. The Fender Strat has been one of the most well-known and widely used guitars in the world since its introduction back in the 50s. The iconic Strat was branded such by its popularity with legends like Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon.
Features include hand-rolled fingerboard edges, alnico V pickups, staggered tuners, improved bridge with bent steel saddles and copper-infused high-mass block for increased resonance and sustain, tinted neck, high-gloss maple or rosewood fretboard, satin neck back for smooth playability, thin-finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance. Every detail of the American Standard Strat has a purpose, to provide quality sound, look and performance and uphold its own legendary reputation.
Fender Vintage ‘52 Telecaster
Despite being well over half a century old now, and one of the longest-running production models in Fender’s history, for many players the Vintage Telecaster will always represent the pinnacle of electric guitar design.
With an arguably less flashy, more workmanlike image than the curvaceous lines of the Stratocaster, and a raunchier set of basic tones, it’s also one of the few electric guitars that excels in virtually every musical setting imaginable, barring perhaps extreme metal, without fitting new pickups.
From the Squier Affinity range, right up to the Custom Shop Time Machine models, Fender makes a Tele for every pocket. The enduring strength of the Telecaster guitar is its elegant simplicity. It has been modified only slightly since its early 1951 debut and now the ’52 reissue has a premium ash body, one-piece U-shaped maple neck and 7.25”-radius fingerboard. It features two American Vintage Tele single-coil pickups, original Tele circuit with three-position switch, brass bridge saddles, ashtray bridge cover, single-ply black pickguard, chrome hardware and master volume and master tone controls.
The introduction of the new American Vintage Series marks the return to original specifications with a sharper body edge, distinctive neck shapes and new pickups that replicate all of the physical and tonal aspects of the originals.

You only have to look at this guitar and it’s obvious why this beauty is in your top 5.
Your Number 1
Gibson Les Paul Custom
The Les Paul Custom 6-string Electric guitar has the highest level of elegance and beauty in the Les Paul family. Based on the original Les Paul design from 1954, the guitar that made rock history has powerful tone and prolonged sustain, just like the Alpine White Custom Les Paul.
The body is crafted with a hand-carved maple top, which is fitted to a body made from a solid piece of mahogany with strategically routed holes to lessen the weight of the guitar, resulting in a Les Paul with enhanced acoustic qualities and improved resonance. The pickups are Gibson’s 490R in the neck position, which offers the tonal characteristics of the original PAFs, and the 498T in the bridge position, which swaps the 490R’s Alnico II magnet for an Alnico V, thus making it slightly hotter with emphasis on mid-ranges and highs. Other appointments include Gibson’s legendary Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, metal tulip tuners, multi-ply white and black binding on both the top and back, gold hardware and a 1 11/16” nut width. The Les Paul Custom is now one of Gibson’s bestselling models and according to you, our customers; it’s the Dolphin's number 1 guitar.
