The Maccabees Gear

Published: Thu October 13, 2011  News Feed

Roland and Boss TV catch up with the Maccabees so they can show us their Roland Cube 80-XL guitar amplifierand how they use it in the studio for practicing and demos. If you're looking for an in-depth review of the Roland Cube 80XL from the Maccabees, I wouldn't suggest counting on the video alone to show you, that's where Dolphin Music can help!

If you know anything about Roland amps, you'll be aware of their popularity in the amp world. Selling over 1 million of its CUBE amp family, Roland continued to push the boundaries and introduced us to the innovative CUBE-XL series in 2010, consisting of the CUBE-80XL, 40XL, 20XL, and 15XL.

The most powerful of the CUBE-XL series is the 80XL and delivers 80 screaming watts of power through its 12” high-performance custom speaker and includes new features such as JC Clean Channel and Boss Effects. If you're looking for the biggest sound and biggest feature set of any cube amp, the CUBE-80XL is for you. The amp is ready for any stage, any gig and practically any musical environment.

Aside from the Roland CUBE-XL Series, the Macabees boy's seem to be a fan of their Fender gear - with guitarist Hugo playing a 1980's Fender Japan Telecaster, Felix using a Fender 1970's Tokai Telecaster and a Fender Blues DeVille in their setup. If you're looking for alternatives of the 1980's and 70's Telecasters, we've got a huge range of Fender Telecasters for you to choose from, and for the more budget conscious, you can opt for a Fender Modern Player Telecaster (new in 2011) or from the range of Squier by Fender Telecasters

The Maccabees are currently on tour in the UK promoting the release of their third studio album Given to the Wild. Some of the Dolphin Crew caught them at the Leeds and Liverpool shows… roll on over to our blog to see a full review for one of their 2012 gigs, with even more info on their guitars.
