As a guitarist there a few joys to compare with cranking up your amp, trying out the latest boutique fuzz box or futuristic synth pedal and discovering a whole new dimension of sound. Pedals come in many shapes sizes and colours and with ever more amusing names for distortion, chorus, wah and multi fx as well as more recent advancements.
The selection is so wide these days that things can be a little confusing; where to begin? How to get that desired sound? Indeed, many guitarists use their personal selection of pedals to help define their sound and experiment with certain combinations of effects and even the order of the signal chain can yield some exciting results. The good news is that amongst the plethora of available effects, there really is something for everyone whether you’re governed by budget or taste.
