NAMM 2011: Akai SynthStation49

Published: Thu January 13, 2011  News Feed

So you may remember Akai releasing their SynthStation 25 back in 2010 - the small, compact synth which had a docking station for your iPod. The Akai Synthstation 49 is an improvement in many ways.

Bigger, Bigger and Better

First of all, not only is the Akai Synthstation 49 bigger in size, but it's made especially and specifically for all you iPad users. This is the first (of what we assume many) intuitive music controller which is designed specifically for iPad use. Working seamlessly with Akai Professional's heralded SynthStation software, SynthStatioin49 proves unparalleled music creation capabilities, including direct in-app MIDI recording from its velocity-sensitive keyboard, nine MPC-style drum pads and an array of transport control.

SynthStation iPad App

SynthStation49 is also completley iOS coreMIDI compatible which makes it instantly compatible with dozens of music apps already existing in the App store and the hundreds more to come.

iPad Docking - sequence to stage in seconds

Dock, power and position your iPad perfectly using the adjustabe-angled cradle, or establish commanding control over your favourite computer software using SynthStation49's USB/MIDI port. 1/4" outputs and extreme portability ensure you'll be able to take your sequences straight to the stage at a moments notice.

MIDI recording to iPad

SynthStation49 is the only full-featured, professional keyboard controller allowing direct MIDI performance recording to iPad. SynthStation49 provides immense software control with forty-nine, full-size velocity-sensitive keys, nine backlit MPC-style drum pads and full transport buttons.

Don't have an iPad?

You can use SynthStation49 as a traditional USB MIDI Controller with your computer - no iPad required! How? SynthStation49's USB port can be connected directly to a Mac or PC computer to receive power in addition to transmitting MIDI to and from music software.
