Electro-Acoustic guitar buyers guide

Why buy an electro-acoustic guitar?

There are many reasons to buy an electro-acoustic. First off, let's make it clear - an electro-acoustic guitar is first and foremost an acoustic guitar like any other, both in sound and feel, and can be played without the need of any amplification like electric guitars do.

But electro-acoustic guitars are more versatile for live performance, as they can also be plugged to a venue's P.A. system or to an amp - ideally, an acoustic guitar amp.

You can also plug your electro-acoustic guitar straight to an audio interface when recording at home, with no need of mic'ing it, which can be a bite more complex. Though using a mic is the best way of capturing the tones of an acoustic guitar (read article here) if you're a beginner or just want to do a quick job, plugging an electro-acoustic will certainly be much easier and save you time!
