According to a BBC report, in the last couple of years a growing number of school children it's out with the recorder, and in with the ukulele. The craze for the instrument has hit primary schools across Britain, with no signs of fading away!

Even The Beatles were heavily into the instrument - George Harrison wouldn't travel without his, John Lennon has been photographed with one, and Paul McCartney often plays it at his live shows, as a tribute to Harrison, the Beatle most in love with the instrument.

At a recent George Harrison tribute concert at St. George's Hall, Liverpool, of course the ukulele had a special place in the proceedings, as George would even befriend people only on the basis that they were also uke players!

Out of the new generation of rock stars, the most notable Ukulele player is indie cult-hero Patrick Wolf, who many consider to be the 21st century David Bowie.
