Cashing in on its cultural identity – often a good bet at the NAMM show – Ashdown and Hayden ‘constructed’ its stand around a classic London double-decker, open-topped bus and surrounded it with the very best in British bass and guitar amplification and was awarded best booth at the show by Bass Gear Magazine, and artists flooded in to catch up with all the best in british gear including System Of A Down's Shavo Odajian, Megadeth's James Lomenzo, Ginger from the Smashing Pumpkins, TM Stevens, Stanley Clarke, Marco Mendoza, Will Lee and many many more.

The stunning newly launched Hayden range includes the Petite 2, Petite 5, Cotton Club 7/15, Cotton Club 15/30, Speakeasy 50 and Classic Lead 80, all handwired and made in the UK. The Speakeasy and Classic Lead 80 are available as heads, with a selection of 2x12, and flat and angled 4 x 12 cabinets.
The idea behind the Hayden amps is that classic guitar amps were generally designed with one particular function or genre in mind, thus the companies return to simple, hand wired boxes that cater to specific needs.
For those not quite up to the aspirational models, Hayden remains dedicated to supplying equipment across the price ranges, and the far eastern manufactured (but British designed) Peacemakers deliver Class A guitar amp tone at even more affordable prices.
On the Ashdown side of the bus are the first cabinet models to come out of Ashdown’s new Kentucky manufacturing plant, as well as the BTA 400 bass valve amp – a sledgehammer 400-Watt head that partners the ABM Evo III preamp with an all-tube output section.
Perhaps less widely known is Ashdown’s commitment to those bassists who are still on their journey to the top. Alongside Ashdown’s Mag and Electric Blue bass amps – perfect for the hard-working player – Ashdown’s All Access bass practice amps arrive at NAMM with a retro-facelift for 2009, and a clever new tilt-back facility.
