TASCAM has updated their popular line amplifiers with the LA-40mk3, LA-80mk2 and LA-81mk2. The new models include a ±12dB trim control for better matching of levels between components. A signal present LED proves useful during system design and troubleshooting.

TASCAM is known for reliable, affordable options in the contractor world, The newly-updated LA-series makes us even more competitive in the line amplifier market without sacrificing the quality.
The LA-80mk2 is an eight-channel unbalanced to balanced line amplifier, where the LA-81mk2 converts eight channels of balanced to unbalance audio. The LA-40mk3 has four channels of unbalanced to balance and another four channels of balanced to unbalanced out.
Not forgetting existing users!
We have updated the DR-1 and GT-R1 Portable Digital Recorders to Version 2.0. The update offers additional features during recording, including a manual track increment for breaking a long session into individual tracks. The new pre-record buffer feature can store audio in a buffer to begin a recording two seconds before the record button is pressed. Recording can also be delayed by 300ms to eliminate handling noise when the record button is pressed.
Editing features have also been added to the recorders in version 2. "File Divide" separates a recording into two files. The DR-1 and GT-R1 automatically make a new file while recording if the file becomes too large. A new "All Delete" function deletes all of the files in the selected folder.
The free update for the DR-1 Portable Digital Recorder and GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder will be available in February on the TASCAM website.
A Big Request For Big Meters! X-48 Update
February 2009* should see the release of v1.10 software for the X-48. We have seen an increasing request for big meter mode on the X-48 as many people are using them for live recording. The software update will also add various requests that we have had in 2008.
*The X-48 is a rock solid recorder and any updates made are extensively tested before release. Problems found at beta stage may cause delays in software release dates.
