Apple Voluntarily Recalling Batteries Used In Some iBook G4 and PowerBook G4 Computers
Apple is voluntarily recalling certain rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that were sold worldwide, in systems and separately, from October 2004 through May 2005 for use with the 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4, and 15-inch PowerBook G4. The affected batteries could overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Apple has initiated a worldwide exchange program and will provide eligible customers with a new replacement battery free of charge. If a customer contacts Apple concerning a battery eligible for this program, urge the customer to stop using the affected battery and immediately order a replacement via the iBook G4 and PowerBook G4 Battery Exchange Program website http://www.apple.com/support/batteryexchange
