The Tenori-On...causing waves in the world of music.
Recently there have been some significant activities which are worth seeing, hearing and visiting! Here is our recent summary.....
1. Norman Fairbanks - LA Machine
We have discussed the detailed musical concepts created by Norman Fairbanks before. Tenori-On enthusiasts will remember that he was the creator of the first exclusive Tenori-On album, 7 Days to Microsleep. Norman's latest release, entitled LA Machine calls upon the Tenori-On as the main production tool and tracks are embellished with atmospheric field recordings made in Los Angeles during August 2008.
LA Machine is an extra-ordinary montage of sound, music and emotion and can be heard at http://www.normanfairbanks.com. Please remember, if you like what Norman has created then please make a donation.
2. Welcome to Tenori-OnUSA.com
As the Tenori-On creative community continues to expand, we're finding that you all want to share information, user stories and even operational hints and tips. The new Tenori-onusa.com site (created and hosted by KeyFax New Media) is the perfect place to discuss Tenori-On with its new user forums. http://www.tenori-onusa.com also offers Tenori-On owners access to an on-line gig calendar so you can tell the world about your upcoming Tenori-On performances. You can also find additional sample sets for free download. Simply drag the downloaded .tnw file to the SD card which you formatted in your Tenori-On and enjoy new blips, blops and kits.
3. Tenori-On on the BBC
UK artist Little Boots gave a ground-breaking performance of her recent release, Meddle, on BBC2's Later With Jools Holland show. Little Boots has found her own special way to incorporate Tenori-On into her unique arrangements so check out her performance and interview at http://www.bbc.co.uk/later/artists/littleboots/1/
We will be talking to Little Boots about her music and performances in the near future.
4. Tenori-On on MTV
The eagle-eyed Tenori-On spotter will also have noticed that we teamed up with MTV.co.uk during October and November and offered you the chance to win a Tenori-On - there were even runner up prizes to get hold of limited edition Tenori-On T-shirts. Congratulations go to the very fortunate Stephen Sheppard of London who won the Tenori-On!
5. Tenori-On at the Royal Northern College of Music
A recent performance at Manchesters Royal Northern College of Music by the unique band Peterloo Massacre, saw the integration of the Tenori-On with Cubase within a creative live performance. Their special blend of 80's electronica with 90's indie, trip-hop and contempory folk is musically diverse and sonically challenging. Paul Green, their programmer and synth player, was one of the first in the world to get hold of a Tenori-On and he has used it in many ways to create and enhance the bands output. We will be talking more to Paul about his experiences with Tenori-On in the near future but until then check out the bands site at http://www.peterloomassacre.com.
