To enter the Riff contest, players must create an original guitar riff (not exceeding 30 seconds) and upload it as a music file to the special Haynes contest site – The competition closes on 12th October 2008. In addition, the first 20 online entrants to the Riff competition will each receive a signed copy of the Haynes Gibson Les Paul Manual, which is out now in all good UK bookshops retailing for £17.99.

With step-by-step guidance and detailed photographs, subjects include how to change pickups, adjusting a truss rod and understanding some great stage rigs, this new self aid manual is the most comprehensive Les Paul book on the market.
In addition, the legendary Les Paul has generously provided a foreword to the manual so this book is a must for all guitar enthusiasts. In the manual, there are many ‘Technical Tips’ from guitar technicians, luthiers and producers, including Mike Vernon on the ‘Blues breaker’ session with Eric Clapton and Neil Dorfsman on the legendary ‘Money For Nothing’ sessions with Mark Knopfler.
