RGT honours guitar tutor of the year
Dave Crawford, a guitar teacher from Llanelli, South Wales, has won The RGT Guitar Tutor of the Year Award 2008.
RGT’s director Tony Skinner presented Crawford with a cheque for £500 and the winner’s trophy at the RGT’s Annual Conference at Thames Valley University, on Sunday September 21.
Crawford was given the award as a result of having the highest number of students in the UK successfully pass RGT guitar exams during the academic year (September-July). Skinner commented: “The award reflects Mr. Crawford’s consistently high standard of teaching as demonstrated repeatedly by the results of his students in the RGT exams”.
Dave said: “The award is a reflection of all the hard work and practice put in by my students,” added Crawford, on receiving the award.
“I’ve been using the RGT exams for over ten years as I find they are very useful for motivating students and the musical content of RGT exams reflects the educational needs of modern guitar players.”
Four runner-up finalists – Julian Brady, Vic Hyland, Graham Corbould and Marc Galea, were each awarded a £50 prize and an engraved plaque. The RGT Guitar School of the Year trophy was awarded to Riffs Guitar School of Stockport; the runner-up was The Guitar School Hastings.
