Oxjam 2008 Returns With Leeds Festival Competition
Oxjam will be kicking off again in October with hundreds more events raising money for Oxfam. It's a music festival with a difference: you make it happen.
And Oxjam have launched a brand new competition that will see an act who've performed at an Oxjam gig playing Leeds Festival in August 2009.
You can get involved by signing up to put on an event. Or have a look at what's happening in your area right now by searching their listings. People come together from all across the country to be a part of Oxjam.
So whatever music you're into, from classical to club night, folk to funk - get involved now.
Make music, raise money and help end poverty with Oxjam. And now, acts will be able to enter themselves and put forward a track to be judged by an expert panel (including representatives from a major record company). So when you're done fighting poverty, you can watch people fight their way to the front - to see you!
A shortlist comprising the 20 best bands who enter will have their songs voted on by the public to determine the winner.
More than 15,000 musicians have taken part in Oxjam events in the past year, raising over £250,000. This year the festival is aiming to double that figure.
Oxjam will also be launching a new schools competition, Oxjam: The Big School Gig, hosted in collaboration with Numu, a safe and engaging online space for music.
Entry for Oxjam: The Big School Gig will open from 10 October 2008, but you can register right now to receive more information by email, by clicking here.
