Liverpool Bands Storm New BBC3 Comedy Series!
"Massive" is a new comedy series on BB3, focusing on two friends from Manchester who decide to set up a record label. The series is a must-see for any music fan, and feature two Liverpool acts!
Massive is a new comedy series on BBC Three starring Ralf Little (Two Pints Of Lager, The Royle Family), Carl Rice (Scallywagga) and Johnny Vegas (Ideal, Benidorm).
Danny (Ralf Little) and Seamus (Carl Rice) bonded over Oasis in '94 and have been best mates ever since. Both Manchester born-and-bred, both mid-twenties and both temping in dead-end jobs, they're united by one all-consuming passion: music. Inspired by the city's local heroes – Tony Wilson, Joy Division, The Happy Mondays – the lads wile away the dreary office hours dreaming of their own record label.
The two friends set up a record label called Shady Records and sign a 'girl band' (two girls formerly from Superb'uns cake shop). According to BBC3, "Massive combines Ralf Little and Johnny Vegas with a terrific supporting cast and Damian Lanigan's vivid scripts about rock'n'roll lifestyles on a Primark budget. It's shaping up to be a unique comedy treat for this autumn on BBC3"
And we are pleased to inform that two bands from Liverpool were invited to join in and play fictional bands on the show! Liverpool premier experimental/weird pioneers a.P.A.t.T (view myspace page) appear as The Lamps, a band who perform in masks and write songs about Jeremy Paxman!
On the other hand, Peter & The Wolf (view myspace page) appear as part of unassuming indie kids The Pott Shrigleys, who have been lurking in the depths of the Pennines secretly honing their craft. The band plays host to the wonderfully amiable Ron, foppish Clovis, arty Amy and a whole host of killer tunes. Do they have what it takes to restore Shady Records faith in music and take them to stratospheric new heights?
Massive, Sundays on BBC3.
