The longest band recording session in the World . . . ever
Engineers from the School of Sound Recording (SSR) aim to record 48 tunes by 48 groups in 24 hours, to set a world record. The idea came about through conversations with Chris Harper of SSR, who remembers making an unofficial record attempt during his mispent youth at Manchester's Jerusalem Studios. He claims they recorded 52 bands, but no one can prove it so it doesn't count.
We are looking for young bands/ groups of all kinds to help us with this record.
The only criterion is that at least one member of each group must attend school or sixth form college in the north west (ie Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside).
If you would like to take part, please send a demo and a picture to Band Marathon, c/o Sara Teiger, 120 Grosvenor Street, Manchester M1 7HL.
Or email digital pictures and MP3 to [email protected] .
Applications will close once we have chosen our 48 bands, so the sooner you send yours in, the more chance you have of gaining a place.
