Ronnie Wood, Jimi Hendrix and the Yamaha Pacifica...
Probably best known as a member of the Rolling Stones, Ronnie Wood is also an accomplished painter, and an Yamaha Pacifica 112 featuring an exclusive Jimi Hendrix-inspired artwork is his latest creation.
Probably best known as a member of the Rolling Stones, Ronnie Wood is well known for playing sold out venues around the world but maybe not so well known as an artist. But in fact Ronnie Wood has been drawing and creating art from a very early age – even being commissioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber to create a one-off piece.
His most recent work however was his first painting to appear, not on a canvas, but rather his instrument of choice - a guitar.
Painted onto a Yamaha Pacifica 112 with acrylic paints, the guitar body was then hand carved with a Dremel multi-tool (the first time Ronnie has employed this technique) to give it a unique 3D look.
The picture depicts an image of Jimi Hendrix, someone who has appeared in several of Ronnie’s paintings and, having never been played, the guitar strings still have drips of paint on them!
The guitar was displayed at last year’s Harrods Rocks guitar show and hung at the Yamaha offices in Milton Keynes before being shipped to Ireland to be exhibited. The guitar is being offered for sale by the New Kings Road Vintage Guitar Emporium (0207 371 0100) – pricing is, predictably, on application only. You can't always get what you want...
