Musikmesse Frankfurt 2008: New Steinberg Hardware

Steinberg presented three new hardware products at Frankfurt Musikmesse 2008: The MR816 CSX and MR816 X Advanced Integration FireWire audio interfaces and the CC121 Advanced Integration Controller.

All are designed for close intergration with Steinberg Cubase, supporting Mac OS X, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

The Steinberg CC121 provides dedicated control over Cubase channel settings with one 100mm touch-sensitive fader, solo/mute, record arm, ‘e’ settings switch, automation read/write, pan, VSTi editor and Full Cubase EQ section with 12 dedicated rotary encoders, mode selection and bypass switches. It also features a transport controller and user-assignable section with Cubase-integrated presets for Control Room studio sends and monitoring setup. Built to an extremely high manufacturing and component standard with 'Cubase Ready' plug and play, the Steinberg CC121 will give you instant control over your Cubase projects.

The Steinberg MR816 CSX and MR816 X are fully-featured FireWire interfaces with in-built DSP FX power and seamless integration with Cubase. Features include: True Integrated Monitoring™ (no latency), 8 discrete Class A analogue ‘D-Pre’ mic preamps (with combination XLR and TRS analogue inputs), switchable phantom power per channel, ADAT and S/PDIF digital I/O and 'Quick Connect' for instant routing of inputs to Cubase channels at the push of a button. The MR816 CSX also features up to 8 simultaneous onboard DSP-powered 'Sweet Spot Morphing' channel strips with compressor, EQ as well as REV-X reverb - available within Cubase during mixing.

The new hardware products are expected to ship in Q3 2008.

Steinberg also announced three new Sequel Content Sets at Frankfurt Musikmesse. Each set contains 400 MB of loops for the musical styles Rock (Alternative/Indie, College Rock, Grunge, Punk, Dark Wave), HipHop (Urban HipHop, Rap HipHop) and Industrial (Elektro, Industrial, Drum´n Bass).

All Loops are tagged with attributes like category, style, tempo and key for easy use with Sequel’s MediaBay. The Sequel Content Sets will be available from summer 2008.
