03.12.2008 - Jimmy Page has personally requested that one of his rare Custom Shop Jimmy Page Signature Double Necks be sold to the highest bidder to benefit ChildLine, a free helpline for children and young people in the U.K. The guitar—one of only 29 in the world—is being offered for sale on the ChildLine website and is an original “Artist Proof” that has been personally inspected and played by Jimmy. Aged to replicate the wear, lacquer checking, and finish patina of the iconic instrument Jimmy used on-stage with Led Zeppelin, the guitar is one of the signed “aged” series that was released to collectors last year. The guitars quickly sold out, as did a further series of 250 “non-aged” guitars.

Retained by Gibson until now, this guitar still has the original strings on which Jimmy played and it carries the designation “artist proof” on the back of the headstock. Once the sale is complete, Jimmy will sign and personalize the guitar to the highest bidder, and Gibson will provide a certificate of authenticity to accompany the guitar.
