NAMM 2008: Fender Introduces the New American Standard Series

Published: Fri January 18, 2008  News Feed

The new American Standard Series announced by Fender at NAMM 2008 has everything to be a success - the killer classic looks, and innovations that make them even better than before!

American Standard Stratocaster

Icon. Not a word to be used lightly. But the Stratocaster is just that. The new American Standard Stratocaster guitars are beauties to behold in sound, look and feel. We kept the hand-rolled fingerboard edges, alnico V pickups and staggered tuning machines for playability, tone and stability, and added several new features, including:

  • A new bridge with improved bent-steel saddles and a copper-infused high-mass block for increased resonance and sustain.
  • A new neck treatment—tinted for a richer presentation, with the maple or rosewood fingerboard buffed to a high gloss. The back of the neck still has that silky satin finish.
  • A thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance.
  • A new Fender-exclusive SKB molded case.
  • Two beautiful new finish options, Sienna Sunburst and Blizzard Pearl.

American Standard Telecaster

The look, sound and vibe of the Telecaster resonate throughout the history and soundscapes of popular music. From orchestra pits to mosh pits; small clubs to stadiums and garages to recording studios, its signature sound is everywhere.

The new American Standard Telecaster still has the hand-rolled fingerboard edges, alnico V pickups and staggered tuning machines for playability, tone and stability, and now includes great new features including:

  • A new bridge with improved bent-steel saddles mounted to a stamped-brass bridge plate for increased resonance and sustain.
  • A new neck treatment—tinted for a richer presentation, with the maple or rosewood fingerboard buffed to a high gloss. The back of the neck still has that silky, comfortable satin finish.
  • A thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance.
  • A new Fender-exclusive SKB molded case.
  • Two beautiful new finish options, Blizzard Pearl and Crimson Red Transparent.

American Standard Precision Bass

Fender invented the electric bass guitar, introducing the Precision Bass in 1951. Its thick sound and indestructible build changed the face of popular music. New American Standard Precision basses are today’s versions of the great instruments of bass heroes past and present—the modern interpretations of our classic instrument, refined for today’s players.

The new American Standard Precision basses features:

  • new high-mass vintage bridge
  • a thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance
  • new and improved Fender tuning keys that keep the classic look but are 30 percent lighter
  • a richer and deeper neck tint for a more elegant appearance
  • a great-looking glossed maple or rosewood fingerboard and satin back for smooth playability
  • a new Fender-exclusive SKB molded case
  • gorgeous new Blizzard Pearl finish option.

American Standard Jazz Bass

Fender hit a giant bass home run in 1960 by introducing its deluxe-model four-string instrument—the Jazz Bass guitar. With its sleek offset body; thin, fast neck and rich, growling tone, it was a raring, roaring racecar of a bass that quickly established itself as a must-have instrument.

The new American Standard Jazz Bass is an even finer player’s instrument—a modern interpretation of our classic instrument for today’s players. Features include:

  • new high-mass vintage bridge
  • thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance
  • new and improved Fender tuning keys that keep the classic look but are 30 percent lighter
  • a richer and deeper neck tint for a more elegant appearance
  • a great-looking glossed maple or rosewood fingerboard and satin back for smooth playability
  • a new Fender-exclusive SKB molded case
  • gorgeous new Blizzard Pearl finish option.
