Dolphin Music's 8th Birthday Bash - Here's How It Was...
A plethora of musicians, artists, songwriters and poets - and the general good rockers of Liverpool - congregated in the most famous club in the world, The Cavern, last Sunday night to acknowledge and celebrate Dolphin Music’s 8th Birthday. Relaxed and happy were all with an eclectic mix of sounds on offer for the hundred plus guests.
Up first was acoustic artist Jeff Jepson with his newly formed backing band which included Dolphin Star staffer Mark Brocklesby on drums. The Neil Campbell Collective took to the stage soon after, with an atmospheric opening arrangement called ‘Rainstorm’. With a 'cut above the rest’ Nicole Collarbone on cello, Mark Brocklesby on drums and Jeff Jepson’s lead vocals the powerfully emotive and eloquent music held everyone’s attention for the whole of the collective’s set.

Amongst all performers there were high jinx and colourful characters, especially within The Mojave Collective who pounded out their set with adroit fluency and plenty of smiles. A wow factor AC/DC cover injected new life into the night from foursome rockers Skinny Lizzie who managed to get the crowd into dancing mode and then, continuing to hold the party people with a name which confirmed the packed stage of more than 20 musicians, The Big Band turned up, tuned in and effected their rapturous waves of Jazz and Blues with songs such as Moondance, Paper Moon and Tequlia.
In line with birthday celebrations there was a large buffet, free drinks and a classic jam sponge birthday cake with a couple of Iced Dolphins on top! The night was a celebratory success with comporting artists sharing fun, frolics and of course, the reason for it all: music.

Thanks also to Tom (Dolphin Sales Team) and his band 'The Crew' for playing a quality energetic set and to everyone else that helped to make it a memorable night.
I would also like to take this opportunity to extend a special thanks to Jeanette for helping me to put the event together, and to the staff at the Cavern for their hospitality.
