Ernie Ball 2nd International Battle of the Bands Kicks Off!

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (August 23, 2007) – Tune up your game, musicians of Earth! Ernie Ball is taking its infamous Battle of the Bands competition overseas once again for the 2nd International Battle of the Bands Competition, held in conjunction with the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour 2007.
Rockstar Taste of Chaos, the only worldwide lifestyle music tour, will land in 26 cities and 11 countries from Australia to the UK, from October 19 through November 28, 2007. Similar to Ernie Ball’s North American Battle, the International Battle of the Bands competition gives unsigned bands from around the world the chance to win a spot on a local leg of the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour.
Selected by a panel of industry judges, one band per stop will be chosen to play live on the event’s second stage. In addition to competing for a spot on the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour, all registered bands are automatically entered in an online voting competition, where the four bands with the most votes will win thousands of dollars in rock ‘n’ roll music gear from big name Battle sponsors.
Fans can vote for their favorite groups online through September 18 at the official Battle of the Bands website, www.battleofthebands.com. But that’s not all. For the first time ever, Ernie Ball will present one deserving band with the Grand Prize of an expenses-paid trip to play the South by Southwest Music Conference & Festival in Austin, TX – one of the largest, most influential, and most anticipated music events of the year.
“Last year’s International Battle was such a hit, there was no way we could resist revisiting the competition for 2007,” said Derek Brooks of the Ernie Ball Company. “There’s an undeniable energy we see from the bands on the international tour, and I’m betting that raising the stakes a little with the SXSW opportunity will take things to a new level.”
To take part in Ernie Ball’s first International Battle of the Bands competition, bands must upload photos, a band biography, and up to five MP3 audio files to the Battle of the Bands site from August 20 thru September 28. Bands must reside in one of the countries on the tour stops.

The Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour combines top musical artists playing at an indoor music festival setting with lifestyle activities. Last year’s inaugural event attracted in excess of 100,000 fans.
This year’s line up of main stage acts includes The Used, Rise Against, Aiden, Escape the Fate and many more.
